So, if you use zsh, don't just try random theme. powerlevel10k/powerlevel10k is not in there.

I triple-booted on an 8-years-old MacBook Pro
So, I got my hands on an 8-years-old MacBook Pro (mid 2012), with 4GB RAM, 500GB SATA HD, and Core i5 CPU.
Good thing about this, is 500GB is very large. (Compared to nowadays usual small (but faster SSD) 128GB - too small to dual boot.)

macOS clean install and installing necessary dev applications
Reformatting macOS is quite easy, but let's see what I do next, for my

Python and Ruby is pre-installed in macOS, but ...
Just don't install anything into System's programming languages, unless you have a virtual environment. Also, you can manage Python and Ruby's versions.
For Python, pyenv and there is Virtual Environment, which is quite opinionated. I use poetry, though. I also tried to fit /.venv/ into the project folder, which requires additional settings.
